Big Money Meets Big Government: Greenlighting Mergers as State and Federal Regulators Step Up Scrutiny
Tuesday, June 15, 2021 | 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Eastern
The new presidential administration brings a new regulatory and enforcement agenda for the cannabis industry, opening up an array of new opportunities for businesses in the space, including an uptick in mergers and acquisitions, investments and joint ventures. While the new administration is likely to be friendly to the cannabis industry, they have also pledged enhanced antirust and regulatory enforcement. We will discuss the current expectations and enforcement priorities, as well as the ever-evolving state landscape.
Join Duane Morris’ Brian Pandya, a former Deputy Associate Attorney General, who will discuss the M&A landscape and other regulatory enforcement challenges and opportunities; American Trade Association for Cannabis and Hemp (ATACH) co-founder Michael Bronstein; and Paul Josephson, former chief counsel to the New Jersey governor and director of the NJ Division of Law and advisor to trade associations and several leading MSOs, for a discussion on how acting and new government personnel affect the policies, landscape and issues related to the big deals that are currently in process.
Our panelists will provide a unique perspective on how factors such as strict state and federal licensing provisions, regulatory reviews, what is reviewed on HSR filings and other requirements, and the politics surrounding state level programs and the enforcement of local provisions could affect any M&A deal.
