American Trade Association for Cannabis and Hemp Responds to Cannabis Rescheduling Rule Moving Forward
Today, the American Trade Association for Cannabis and Hemp reacted to the news that cannabis rescheduling is moving forward with the official notice of proposed rulemaking (NPRM) by the Department of Justice. Reclassifying from Schedule I to III would reclassify cannabis to a far less restrictive category.
The following statement is from Michael Bronstein, President, American Trade Association for Cannabis & Hemp:
“Think about what we are witnessing: both the US Food and Drug Administration and Drug Enforcement Administration – the most important arms of federal control – are saying cannabis is medicine with the federal government now publishing a rule placing marijuana in Schedule III. This view is what we as advocates have advanced for the last 20 years. It is a statement as bold as it is stunning, given the source. Today the dam of federal prohibition has a meaningful crack.”
ATACH has played a leading role and founded the Coalition for Cannabis Scheduling Reform (CCSR) over a year ago and is managing the campaign to influence and impact today’s rule change through education, advocacy, and awareness. We look forward to submitting public comments on the proposed rule.
